James L. Wisler
jim@wislerlaw.com

“The greatest rewards of my professional life have been in helping men, women and children recover when they have been physically and emotionally injured by the negligence of others. I am here to serve my clients. Most of the time, I am fighting for their rights against insurance companies and huge corporations. When we win, justice is done.”

Jim is now able to devote all of his professional time to representing people who have been hurt or wronged. This has not always been the case. Jim have been practicing law since 1975; however, for the first 17 years of his law practice, he handled a great variety of case types, including real estate, municipal law, corporations, agriculture law, divorce, criminal defense, bankruptcy and wide range of civil and criminal cases. This broad background has laid a strong foundation for his personal injury and workers’ compensation practice.

Jim’s passion has always been representing people who have been injured at the hands of others. For the last ten years, he has done that. As an attorney at Schroer Rice, Wisler & Morton, P.A., a small plaintiff’s firm in Topeka, Kansas, Jim built a practice representing people hurt in automobile accidents or on the job. Jim has always represented people who have been wrongfully terminated from their jobs, usually because of racial or sexual discrimination or harassment. Jim has been trying and settling personal injury cases for over 35 years. Within the last twenty years, he has represented people who were injured by the negligence of doctors (medical malpractice) or by defective products (products liability). Jim also represents people who have been injured by defective prescriptions and over the counter medications and persons and property damaged by toxic mold. Jim has been representedchildren who have been physically and emotionally damaged by vicious dog attacks. He has represented people and the families of people who have been seriously injured and killed in accidents involving large over the road semi trucks and boats. Jim represents people who have been wrongfully denied insurance benefits for Short Term and Long Term Disability under employer’s ERISA insurance policies.

Jim has been blessed with considerable success in all of these areas. He eventually became President and lead trial attorney at Schroer Rice, Wisler & Morton, P.A. and, in October of 2002, he formed his own firm in Lawrence, Kansas, where he lives. Jim’s practice continued to grow steadily and, in December of 2008, Wisler Law Offices merged with the Law Office of David P. Treviño. From their office in Lawrence, he now devotes all of his efforts to representing people throughout the State of Kansas who have been injured or wronged.

When you hire a personal injury lawyer, ask the attorney how many cases he or she has tried. Jim has tried hundreds of cases, both criminal and civil. He has negotiated and settled thousands more. The key to a good and just settlement is to be prepared to take the case to trial. From the start of your first consultation, Jim is preparing to take your case to trial. If you have been injured, he will be glad to talk to you about your case. There is no charge for an initial consultation. The firm accepts most personal injury and workers compensation cases on a contingency fee basis, which means if we don’t win, you don’t pay.

Jim has 6 children and 2 grandchildren. Jim enjoys boating, reading and book collecting, antiques, travel and spending time with his family.
